December 7th, 2011 -- The latest updates about our programs based at Lilliwaup Hatchery on Hood Canal.

September 12th, 2011 -- The Chinook are returning to our Glenwood Springs Hatchery! To-date, over 1,300 Chinook have made their way back from the ocean and into our hatchery, and there are many more jumping in the bay, preparing to climb the ladder.

September 1st, 2011 -- Long Live the Kings will celebrate its 25th year of restoring wild salmon and steelhead and supporting sustainable fishing with a public salmon homecoming open house at Glenwood Springs—our original, natural-rearing salmon hatchery on Orcas Island—on Saturday, September 24, 2011.

June 22nd, 2011 -- Redd Surveys, Egg Collection, and Fish Releases: Lilliwaup staff began redd surveys in mid-February on the Duckabush and Hamma Hamma River and then in March on the Little Quilcene. In total, 70 redds (steelhead nests) were counted on the Duckabush, 37 redds on the Hamma, the areas where steelhead population rebuilding efforts are or have taken place.

June 19th, 2011 -- LLTK was thrilled to co-present a book event with Elliott Bay Bookstores on June 6. Author Paul Greenberg stopped in Seattle as part of a tour for the paperback release of FOUR FISH: The Future of the Last Wild Food, a New York Times and Los Angeles Times bestseller, and one of the New York Times 100 Notable Books of 2010.

Glenwood Chinook

April 10th, 2011 -- Dear Friends of Glenwood Springs Chinook-- It was a banner year for Glenwood Chinook! In 2010, the King of Fish returned in great numbers to our Glenwood Springs hatchery. More than 700 Chinook made their way through East Sound to the bayside facility where they were born. This arrival of big, healthy, adult Chinook ended a six-year drought of dismal returns.
