USFWS Pacific Region Hatchery Review Set to Conclude this June
Posted on: February 4th, 2010

This June, LLTK and the USFWS will conclude their work on the Pacific Region Federal Hatchery Review.
The project, begun in 2005, has evaluated supplementation programs at all federally-owned or operated Pacific Region hatcheries. The programs have been reviewed, in accordance with principles developed by the Hatchery Scientific Review Group, for their impacts on wild stocks and their ability to meet harvest, conservation, and research goals. LLTK has provided facilitation, coordination, and strategic planning for this comprehensive federal review.
In 2009, the two project Review Teams concluded their assessments of the Pacific Region National Fish Hatcheries, producing six reports, with assessments and recommendations for 30 hatchery programs located across 15 facilities. The reports can be downloaded from the USFWS website.
LLTK is now facilitating the completion of the remaining assessments and recommendations, including reports on the Lower Snake River Compensation Plan facilities to be published later this spring, and a region-wide recommendations report to be complete in June.
