LLTK has begun an exciting partnership with the Steelhead Diner, aimed at raising awareness about the Hood Canal Steelhead Project. Be sure to stop by the restaurant during the month of April, where each person in your party will receive a free dessert, just because you support Long Live the Kings! The Steelhead Diner is a new restaurant in the heart of the Pike Place Market with a focus on fresh, regional, home-style (and delicious!) cooking. Owner/Chef Kevin Davis was formerly Executive Chef at the Oceanaire Seafood Room. He opened the Steelhead Diner in February, with his wife and the restaurant’s Business Manager, Terresa Davis. The two have created an unpretentious yet stylish venue where guests enjoy dramatic views of the Market, Elliot Bay, and the Olympics. The Steelhead Diner also reflects the Davis’ concern for the environment, community, and sustainability, with a menu featuring Market-fresh ingredients from local growers, bread-makers, cheese-makers, and meat producers.
In addition to his impressive culinary resume (which includes positions at Arnaud’s in New Orleans, and Seattle’s Sazerac, as well as being voted “Best Seafood Chef” by Seattle Weekly readers in 2005), Chef Kevin has worked diligently to further awareness about and support for sustainable fisheries. You won’t find any seafood from over-fished, non-renewing populations on his menu, and he serves as a national spokesperson for the Marine Stewardship Council.
An avid fly-fisherman with a particular affinity for steelhead, being involved with LLTK and the Hood Canal Steelhead Project, in the context of a proposed listing of steelhead under the Endangered Species Act, is especially meaningful to Kevin.
