For 20 years, Long Live the Kings (LLTK) has operated the State-owned Wishkah River Salmon Hatchery, located on the rain-soaked southwest corner of Washington's Olympic Peninsula.
Our staff has worked hard to transform the facility into a model of one of LLTK's founding principles: that hatcheries might be used, in concert with habitat restoration, to recover wild salmon and support sustainable fisheries.
With Wishkah's projects firmly established and its operation stable, LLTK determined in 2006 that the time was nearing to return management responsibility to the State of Washington. In June of 2007, we officially handed the facility back to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW).
