Intiman Theater Open Minds / Open Dialogues Event
Monday, October 17, 7:30 pm at Intiman Theater in Seattle

LLTK Executive Director Barbara Cairns will be a featured participant this month in the panel discussion Soil, Salmon, and Survival: Exploring the Issues of The Grapes of Wrath from a Local Perspective. The event is part of Intiman's American Cycle series, and occurs in conjunction with the current production of The Grapes of Wrath. Other panelists include author Jonathan Raban, community activist Rosalinda Guillen, and Millie Judge from the Snohomish County Prosecutor's Office. The discussion will be moderated by journalist Charles Mudede. It is not necessary to attend the play to go to the panel discussion. Hatchery Reform: Managing for Success Conference
Friday, October 28, 9am - 3pm at the Mountaineers Building in Seattle

The Mountaineers' Conservation Division will host a day-long conference in Seattle on October 28th at the Mountaineers Building. This one day event will highlight the independent scientific recommendations and co-manager implementation actions resulting from the Puget Sound and Coastal Washington Hatchery Reform Project. Joint presentations by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW), treaty Indian tribes, and the Hatchery Scientific Review Group (HSRG) will include the role of hatcheries and hatchery reform in the future of salmon recovery and sustainable fisheries. 2005 Women Chefs and Restaurateurs Conference
November 5-7, at the W Hotel in downtown Seattle

Barbara Cairns has been asked to be the keynote-speaker at the 2005 Women Chefs and Restaurateurs National Conference, to be held Nov. 5-7 at the W Hotel in Seattle. Barbara's presentation will be at 8:30 am on Sunday, Nov. 6, and will address the ways in which organizations like LLTK are working with local restaurateurs to collaboratively educate, motivate, and involve the larger community in the effort to protect salmon and its habitat. LLTK Annual Chairman's Council Luncheon:
Long Live the Kings- Supporting 21st Century Fisheries Management

Friday, November 18, at the Palace Ballroom in downtown Seattle

As LLTK enters its 20th year, our annual luncheon will provide an opportunity to celebrate our successes, introduce our next phase of work, and launch an ambitious fundraising campaign aimed at supporting new models for salmon recovery and sustainable fisheries. Featured speaker will be Nathan J. Mantua, PhD, Assistant Professor of Atmospheric Sciences and Marine Affairs at the University of Washington, and a full time research scientist with the UW's Climate Impacts Group.
